Funding Halwill's Defibrillators

Raising funds for the defibrillator cause.

During 2012 and 2013, money was raised for Halwill's two defibrillators.

Being a rural community, the time to get an ambulance to the victim of a heart attack is often crucial. For every minute that passes without defibrillation, chances of survival decrease by 14 per cent.

The Community Emergency Plan Committee, a sub committee of the parish council, has now raised enough money to purchase both the defibrillators and suitable casings, which enable them to be available to anyone in the event of a cardiac arrest.

In March 2013 the Community Market handed over a welcome cheque to kick off the appeal. For the full report, please refer to the link on the right for the Holsworthy Post report.

Then during the summer Anglers Paradise also stepped in and together with smaller contributions from individuals enabled all the equipment to be purchased.

Please see the other stories on the website: the refurbished telephone box in Halwill Town in the 'Parish News' section; and the opening of the defibrillator at the Village Hall which can be viewed in the 'Gala Day 2013' item under the 'Our Parish' heading.
